OMNI-HEAT Infinity and its origin story

"It's perfect. Now make it better" – words Columbia Sportswear employees often heard from Gert Boyle, the legendary 'Tough Mother' and Columbia family head.

In 2010, as the Columbia Sportswear team started a new collection, they first reviewed products then available on the market. "We faced what we call a sea of sameness. We decided there must be another, more effective thermal insulation idea, then stumbled upon survival blankets" – recalls Haskell Beckam.

This birthed Omni-Heat technology, regulating temperature by reflecting and retaining body-produced heat. Possible through a lining with an aluminium dot "matrix". When cold, dots reflect body heat, sustaining its temperature. When the body heats up, sweating and raising humidity, dots dissipate excess through aluminium's high thermal conductivity. The lining also circulates air, wicking moisture outside. It works like a temperature-regulating thermostat.

OMNI-HEAT Infinity builds on a "matrix" of golden, bigger dots for 40% higher thermal insulation and instant warmth, keeping equally high air and moisture permeability. This technology powers over 100 jackets, boots and accessories in the newest Columbia Sportswear collection.

Comfortable warmth comes from: natural 700 cuin goose down (RDS certificate), the newest body-heat-reflecting golden Omni-Heat™ Infinity lining, plus hydrophobic fabric treatment slowing soaking. The jacket packs useful solutions like a fabric chin guard hiding the zipper, inner pocket, detachable hood, adjustable bottom and cuffs, plus side pockets warming hands.
